NOTE: Providing names of available preachers is a service of the SCFWB State Office of the South Carolina State Association of Free Will Baptists. Provision of such names, however, should not be considered as an unqualified endorsement or recommendation because educational and experience qualifications vary. Interview each candidate carefully and seek God’s direction as to how they would fit with your church situation.

Hints to help
you in your search. |
1) Is his Preaching
Style and content acceptable to the Church? |
2) Does his
Personality mesh with the characteristics of the Church (We have
city churches, country churches, singing churches, changing styles
of worship churches, ) |
3) Will his
Program be acceptable to the Church? Is the church willing to
grow or build or change in a way that will make the programs he
institutes workable? |
4) Can you
Pay him what is necessary for his family and his financial situation? |
5) When you
Pray about him does the Holy Spirit bring peace to your heart? |
6) Have you
Performed a background check on his past ministry accomplishments
and present ministerial standing? |
7) Does the
Plan you have in place to select a Pastor bring confusion or comfort
to the members of the Church and the Pastoral candidate. |
8) What Percentage
of vote will the candidate need in order to be called? |
9)What procedure
will be used if a candidate comes (Will he be voted on that Sunday?) |
10) Pray, Pray,
Pray-We still believe that a pastor should be "sent by God".
Seek God's Face, Look for God's Leadership, Depend on God's Directions. |
After the candidate
comes to the church, allow no more than 2 weeks to go by before some sort of decision is communicated to the candidate. |
